In the midst of the pandemic, our lives and art careers were unexpectedly upended. Beyond our roles as professional artists, we were dedicated teachers, passing on the knowledge of academic art to local children—a tradition my father has upheld for nearly three decades.
In 2014, we founded SKG Art, aiming to impart academic art education locally. As mentors, we quickly realized that in 21st-century India, misconceptions persisted about the viability of art as a career. We saw talented students with dreams but lacking in awareness of the vast opportunities available to them. Determined to set the record straight, we took it upon ourselves to demonstrate that these dreams could indeed be realized.
Teaching students as young as 4 the fundamentals of art was both challenging and immensely rewarding. Through SKG Art, we gained popularity in our community despite facing numerous obstacles over the years. However, the pandemic dealt a crushing blow. Our classes halted, and the entire art business came to a standstill as people focused on survival.
Despite the setback, our mission remained unchanged—to empower students to pursue art as a livelihood. As we encouraged them to believe in their dreams, we realized it was time to do the same for ourselves. Transitioning online, we turned to platforms like YouTube and Zoom, initially with modest success.
Yet, teaching art online in India presented unique challenges. Zoom classes, however, became unexpectedly popular, and post-pandemic, there was a clamour for in-person sessions once more. The shift from offline to online was undoubtedly difficult, but it brought forth a newfound purpose. We sought to infuse our studio environment with a sense of tranquillity through art.
Despite feeling like we were starting anew multiple times, we never wavered in our dream of running an art school. For those who believed in us, it became our mission to help them realize their abstract dreams of becoming successful artists.
Our journey continues. Join S.K.G art (Snkalpit Kala Gyan) where your abstract dreams come to reality.believe in their dreams, we realized it was time to do the same for ourselves. Transitioning online, we turned to platforms like YouTube and Zoom, initially with modest success.
